What do you think about using curiosity to prepare for networking meetings? What more would you like to learn?

Seeking to learn more about someone who is interviewing you just helps you become more comfortable with the whole interviewing process, as well as with the person who is interviewing you. I also think it would help you stand out, as many others wouldn't be taking this approach.

One of my favorite quotes is "Listen, or thy tongue shall make you deaf". I love to know what inspires people. The simple question "How did you end up in this field/career?" has led me to some incredible conversations. It is also a great technique to help me remember people and reconnect after I haven't seen them for a while. I never really thought of the benefits on the other end. I just really want to know. I'm convinced that if you listen long enough, you will find some connection with the person you are speaking with.

@lynn - great advice and an excellent way to ask the question.

@kip - I believe that no one gets enough time talking about themselves to someone who is really listening
